Carlo Volpi Knitwear: piles of threads, contrived interweaving, fine yarns. Textile secret hideouts of a whimsical humor for exclusive items, refined, unisex explode on linear cuts, oversized, for contrasts and experimentations, a remarkable eclecticism. Each garment shouts its personality, contains and expresses a character distinguishable at first glance, from the first blink of an eye. Surfaces schematic and simpler lines are just a trap, a false start of a conclusion far from obvious where patterns and colors run out of control toward the purest creativity.
Grandson of two grandmothers engaged in textiles and sewing machines, Carlo Volpi, born near Florence, in 1998 he moved to London where a workshop in knitwear, during the course of degree in Textiles at Goldsmiths College, marks the joint, the turning point of what would become his most decisive path, crowned after the master at the Royal Collage of Art, with the birth in 2014 of the label Carlo Volpi Knitwear. His multifaceted character fully reflects the style full of eclecticism, contrasts reformatted and transformed into perfect joints.
The mixing of a manufacturing technique that respects the tradition of craftsmanship and advanced technology, brings him on the podium of the contest Who Is On Next? UOMO 2016, the eighth edition of the scouting project organized by Fondazione Pitti Immagini Discovery, promoter by Pitti Immagine Uomo, in collaborazione with Altaroma and L’Uomo Vogue.
From the first collection, where nothing was the pivotal point from which everything was moving, to the simple textures but excessive in the colors of the garments inspired by De Stijl and Mondrian. Conventional figurations are reworked to describe ironically a very complex feeling. Sculptures, knitted castles, architectures of a performer who speaks but not only of fashion. Accelerator of time, accelerator of style. For info www.carlovolpi.co.uk
