Altaroma, the curtain rises. From 23 to 26 January, in the homeland of our history, Rome, in a flurry of sparkling events that will inhabit the Guido Reni District. In fact, Altaroma returns with a rich edition of the novelties, leaving great space for the best emerging talents of the Italian panorama, capable of inducing unusual visions, good at comparing and making the best of the expert masters of Made in Italy. Altaroma is dialogue, it is the necessary stimulus, it is the perfect balance between what has been and what will be.
Among fashion hubs, exhibition areas and special events, Showcase Roma will celebrate its fifth consecutive year of existence and (above all) of success with fifty-six Made in Italy thinkers. Showcase is part of the busy and exciting calendar of Altaroma with the display of the Fall/Winter 2020-2021 collections of the selected brands that will alternate in rotation between the four days of the event. Maybe one of the most successful projects of the Capitoline kermesse but most of all, one of the most favorable stages for emerging designers. For years Altaroma has positioned itself as the perfect intermediary between the new names in fashion and the insiders, from press to buyers. An essential showcase but also a place that echoes fundamental conversations that must be carried out in the fashion system like that of sustainability for example. In this, numerous are interesting proposals and peculiar points of view of the designers participating in the Showcase event who express themselves with new shapes, alternative materials and the inevitable refinement of Italian craftsmanship. Villatrentuno bags, Spendthrift sportswear, Fili Pari‘s avant-garde, Adelaide Carta‘s eco-sustainability, the femininity of Les Jeux du Marquis shoes, Yekaterina Ivankova‘s upcycling just to name a few.
The prestigious fashion and design schools will not miss the appeal. Naba, the renowned Milanese academy now also established in Rome, will make its grand entrance by consolidating the first participation in the event with the parade of the most deserving projects of its students. For the occasion, the IED instead conceived and formulated Amphibia, a review of fashion films focused on the theme of sustainability and made by multidisciplinary teams of its own students.
Anxious waiting for Saturday 25 January when Federico Cina, winner of Who Is On Next?, 2019 will show “The good times“, its F/W 2020-21 menwear collection. The ending? Definitely unexpected, certainly addicting! To walk the runway even ther two finalists of Who Is On Next?2019, Jing Yu and Twins Florence.
The appointments with Morfosis, Antonio Martino, Caterina Moro, Roi du Lac, Gall, Italo Marseglia, Sylvio Giardina cannot be left out of the agenda. Talented designers and emerging brands ready to draw a new chapter of fashion with flair, avant-garde and savoir faire. Rome Is My Runway is reconfirmed which, in pursuit of the success of its summer edition, is re-proposed in other guises with a collective show animated by some of the brands participating in the Showcase: the purity of Asciari, the Chiara Perrot sporty-chic, the modern charm of Gentile Catone, the elegance of Sartoria 74.
