Founded in 2017 by Valentina Poltronieri, VP is a young and emerging brand of made in Italy. Geometries, colors, elegance, glamor… In the collections you can see a project that starts from an idea up to a garment, an emotion. In an exclusive interview Valentina Poltronieri tells about herself. From her first love for fashion, the determination to study up to her VP brand. Valentina Poltronieri takes us into her world, made up of inspirations, fabrics, research and a lot of passion for her art.
Design, prints, colors: where do you find inspiration for your collections? "The main inspiration comes from travel, I have always traveled since I was a child. I like to discover and know places and views. Before leaving for a new adventure I buy a local guide, I read it in one breath to know what I will go, to discover and visit. I love talking to local people, learning about their culture. I take pictures, lots of photos, which I then archive on my computer waiting to become inspiration. When I develop a collection relating to a city I have visited I want to recreate through my bosses the spirit, the joy of that place."
What can never be missing in a Valentina Poltronieri dress? "The main feature of the brand is to have clean and essential lines enriched by fine Italian fabrics and careful research at the textile level. The brand's aesthetic is always open to new suggestions, the cult of travel and both physical and mental escapes, which they manage to balance future projections and past traditions in an always ironic style, with a cosmopolitan and eclectic character. With stylistic features and geometries that identify the brand. Another great identifying detail is the use of color in all seasons. This expresses my personality, my way of being and at the same time in the garments enhances the glam style, making it cheerful, lively and ironic. The last inevitable feature are the prints that I personally develop on a graphic level, echo the mood of the collection, contain the inspiration, the colors and the sensations of the collection."
Who are the women who choose and dress your clothes? "Surely they are women who want vitality, carefree, color. They are women of different ages, all lovers of simplicity but attentive to details. The VP woman wants to get noticed: thanks to the versatility of the garments, you can create looks perfect for a glamorous style, a professional outfit or a more street and metropolitan one, for example ".
And to conclude this special interview, I can only ask you... Any plans for the future? Do you have any? Can you reveal them to us? "Absolutely yes! One of my biggest projects has actually just ended and is the opening of my first laboratory, where I will develop, design and create my collections. The space will soon be open to the public upon request and appointment and I also plan to set up a small corner there. Another project... my first line of 100% made in Italy shoes. But you will find out more about this during Milan Fashion Week and/or during Rome Fashion Week."
